You’ve already got more than enough on your plate fending off all the invaders that are coming your way during the tactical strategy portions ofThe Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, so why feel lost wandering around the school looking for something to do between missions into the outside world?

At key points throughout the story of The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, you’ll find yourself heading to the various rooms around your school campus, each of which serves a unique purpose. Here’s a brief overview of the locations you’ll find in the Last Defense Academy and when they’ll unlock.

You’ll find plenty of additional decorative areas throughout the school, but we’ve focused our guide on the ones you’ll be visiting the most for story purposes and Free Time segments - the boy’s bathroom doesn’t need quite as much exposition as the Garage and its functions!

Dorm Rooms

Bedrooms On The Roof

There are only so many floors to the Last Defense Academy and the Second-to-Last Defense Academy, but sinceyou and your teammatesare there for the full 100 days, you’ll need someplace to call your own throughout. The people who set up the Academy found space to fit you all - up on the roof of the school, in trailers that expand into full bedrooms.

Takumi’s room is on the southern side of the roof, but you’ll often begin and end your days in the room, so navigating there isn’t required too often. Still, if you want topass Free Time quicklywithout doing anything during that segment, such as on subsequent playthroughs, then you cansleep in Takumi’s bedto forward things along to the next time segment, whether that’s a story chapter or more Free Time.

Thankfully, the map of the dorm rooms are labeled with your friends' faces, and their names are displayed above their front doors, shouldyou need to find someonewhile they’re in their room.

War Room And School Entryway

Get Ready To Fight

Sirens are blaring, the announcement is calling all available troops, and the school invaders are baring down on the Academy, so what’s Takumi to do? More often than not, you’ll see him head to the War Room at critical story moments toset off for battle to defend the school. This is where the story often forces you togo before battleto talk with any available teammates or hear any information about the fight ahead.

It’s not often you’ll come here on your own, but it’s important to know where to find it on your map - you’ll need to come here often enough to speak with folks during segments the game asks you to either walk for or fast-travel during for some quieter conversations.

On the flip side, you’ll also find that you can leave the school from theentryway on the first floor, on the south side of the building. Here, you’ll find twoFire Extinguishersby the front doors, which you can opt to grab for use in temporarily extinguishing the Undying Flames long enough to sneak past them and venture out onexpeditions to collect resourceslike Battle Points and material loot.

While you’ll do plenty of expeditionsas part of the main story in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, you’re able to also choose to go on additional expeditions by using the Fire Extinguishers. You’ll need to go on voluntary expeditions during your Morning Free Time segment on any given day - the expedition will consume both your Morning and Afternoon slots for the day, and you’ll progress into the subsequent day when you finish your exploration.

If you need to focus on getting specific kinds of materials, you’ll be able to unlock new specific areas by increasing your extinguisher level at key points throughout the story.

Training Room

Bulk Up, Train Hard

Introduced onDay003when the group begins exploring the school a bit more thoroughly, you’ll find a rich arcade set-up with plenty of games your teammates can play in their Free Time, but Takumi comes here strictly on business more often than not, since this is where you’lluse the VR machine to trainyour team between battles, deploying into fictional scenarios to get some more experience (and BP) from fighting.

Throughout the course of the main story, new scenarios unlock in the VR machine perioidcally, so check back between major story sections for new optional missions. Typically, anytime you get some Free Time segments, there will be new missions to discover should you choose to use that time practicing.

Additionally, you may use the smaller machine in the lower section of the room toimprove Class Weaponsfor Takumi and the team.Wish your teammates hit a little harderon the battlefield in the early days of the game? Check out the machine in the arcade to apply some upgrades to your gear between battles. It’s always a good idea to check what you can do for your teammates, especially if you’re just about to use the VR machine just on the other side of the room.

Rec Room

Make And Hand Out Gifts

If you’ve playedthe Danganronpa gamesbefore grabbing this game (or most iconic mystery visual novels, really), then you’re likely familiar with how you cangive gifts to classmates to increase your relationshipquicker than if you’d spent that time simply talking to them. Instead of buying them outright, you’ll need toamass Battle Pointsand resources tomake giftsusing the present-shaped mystery machine in the Rec Room, the Gift-o-Matic.

Broken down into categories and given an organizational hashtag to make finding them amid the dozens of presents in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy a bit easier, the presents you can give your teammates offer a massiveboost to your grades, depending on which grade the teammate in question helps you raise. As you keep experimenting with different presents, you’ll findall kinds of giftsyour teammates prefer, sincegiving loved gifts offers higher grade booststhan regular presents.

Some of the recipes in the Gift-o-Matic require hidden treasure items from your expeditions beyond the Undying Flames, which can be picked up from the rainbow treasure chest spots around your expedition board. They’ll require a plethora of regular materials to fabricate the best presents for everyone, so it’s always smart to keep a stock of resources on you.

Making and giving a gift consumes yourwhole Free Time slot, but doing so with a loved gifts is one of the fastest ways to raise your grades. Learn what your teammates want and give them as many as you’re able to for the maximum benefits!

Garage, Metal Shop, And Bio Lab

More Significant Upgrades

After Tsubasa agrees to join the fight at the Last Defense Academy, you’ll unlock access to theGarageon the first floor onDay 019, able to access it from Day 020 onwards. While unlocking the Garage does expand your Class Weapon upgrades list byquitea lot for each teammate, you’ll find yourself using the garage for the biggest updates at both schools.

After the next major story beat, you’ll gain access to two more rooms that are pivotal to upgrading your team’s battle capabilities onDay 031- theMetal Shopis also on the first floor and theBio Lab, which is up on the second. The Metal Shop allows you to create newTrapsto use in battle to deter foes from getting too close to you or the barrier’s core, while the Bio Lab lets you make and upgradeEnhancementsfor the team that offer things like stat boosts or extra abilities on the field.

Making upgrades of any sort does not consume your Free Time slot.

Library

Study In Your Free Time

Hopefully you’ve put in some time to work onimproving your five gradesin the Last Defense Academy, right, since youneed to improve your grades for Class Weapon upgrades, as well as the full gamut of selections on chance cards when given the option to selectgrade-based skill checks in expeditions, unlocking an extra third option available only to those with the right marks on their report cards.

While you’ll find plenty of success in hanging out with teammates and in giving them gifts, you can alsoread books in the Library to boost your gradeson any given visit to the Library on 2F in the Last Defense Academy. Here, you’ll find shelves of books, so plan fortwo Free Time segments to finish a book. There’s one book per sub-category, with two books per grade in total. Reading offers subsequent boosts to the grade in question, but re-reading the same book a second time offers diminishing returns.

The room unlocks onDay 019, available from Day 020 onward. In general, you’ll want to use the Library toearn those last few grade pointsto boost your grades, since it’s almost always more fruitful to spend time with your teammates (especially since they’ll slowly but surely teach you the hashtags required to organize the presents in your Gift-o-Matic).

You’ll also learn plenty of intruguing, optional in-game lore about the outside world as you read through the books in the Library - whatever hasn’t been redacted, that is.
