The druids of Casterfell Woods use an old castle as their base of operations inAtomfall. Infiltrating the home of a bloodthirsty cult might not seem like the safest idea, but there are several objectives in the game that lead you to do just that.
As you make your way across the grounds to the castle itself, you may come across a locked hut that you can’t get into without a special key. Unlike many of the other keys in the game, this one isn’t on the premises; you’ll have to explore the deep woods in order to find it.
How To Find The Castle Grounds Hut Key
The key is in a small cavealmost on the other side of the Casterfell Woods from the castle.Specifically, it’s located at24.7E, 85.6N, behind Datlow Hall. However, it’s alsofull of dangerous spores and a hostile spitting plant, so it pays to prepare before you go.
Before You Go To The Cave
Before you set out to find the key, it’s a good idea toenter the castle and get the recipe for Strange Tonic, as well asMother Jago’s Book, from the kitchen. The Tonic will let you resist the Infection buildup from the cave’s spores, somix up a batch and drink it before entering.
You can also trade for a Strange Tonic directly from Mother Jago herself, but she doesn’t always have them in stock.
Getting The Key
The most straightforward way to get the key is toenter the grouinds of Datlow Hall by the front entranceand make your way around the back clockwise.Watch out for the numerous tripwiresthroughout the garden; when you reach the rear,squeeze between the shed and the carto emerge behind the estate.
Follow the path straight ahead and you’ll see the infection spores, plus adead scientist to the right.Make sure that you’re fully healed, anddrink the Strange Tonicnow.
The body has a note about Mother Jago and some crafting supplies, but otherwise nothing important.
Avoiding the shots from the spitting plant at the center of the spores,go into the infection zone and turn right immediatelyto find the cave. Watch out for exploding spore clusters, which will damage you if you’re caught in the blast, Tonic or no Tonic.
Being in the infection cloud also deals damage to you over time, even if you don’t become infected as easily as you normally would. Don’t linger!
Look on the ground of the cave for another body;take the key from itand get out of the area to safety.
Where Is The Castle Grounds Hut?
Facing the main doors to enter the castle, the hut isimmediately to the left.Is map coordinates are19.9E, 83.6N.
Inside, the main reward is a BARD Crate containing a Training Stimulant, which you’re able to use toward learning new skills. It also contains Iodine, one of the rarer crafting materials for medicine and consumables, and the shelves have someammo and bandagesthat are never unwelcome in a game like this.
