After Sirei vanishes and Hiruko tells those unwilling to fight that they’ll be evicted from the school unless they take up arms inThe Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, Takumi and Eito make it their mission to convince the stragglers to fight, which they’ll begin trying with Tsubasa.

The first of a few times you’ll need to persuade teammates to join you, convincing Tsubasa to fight in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is a two-part proess: you’ll need to make her a special present in the Gift-o-Matic, then hear her out on what’s got her hesitant to start fighting.

How To Recruit Tsubasa

Step One: Make Her Sick Bag

Now that you’ve got access to the Gift-o-Matic, Eito suggests making a present for Tsubasa that willhelp in some waywith her condition - shegets sickwhen faced with violence or gore, so why not try theFashionable Sick Bagavailable in the machine? This one doesn’t require any of your standard materials, but you’ll need a special one from someplace out in the world: aFashionable Pouch.

When chatting with your teammates, you’ll need to make time forTakemaru, who reminds you about Tsubasa’s grandfather she wants to save back home, as well asDarumi, who gives you a hint as to where to go to get a bag out in the world beyond the Undying Flames. Talk to these two, then head back to Eito. He’ll suggest you twogo on an expedition to get the bagyou’ll need for Tsuabasa’s gift, which results in a requiredexpedition with only Takumi and Eito, the first time you’ll be fighting with only two teammates (but certainly not the last).

The bag is located on thehighlighted treasure chest spaceon the map when you get past the flames, so follow the steps below to navigate there using the movement cards you’re given. you’re able to take your time and explore a bit if you want to source some extra materials while you’re out here, but keep an eye on your team’s HP.

Either way, once you reach the tile with the bag on it, you’llhead back to schoolwith Eito and craft the bag for Tsubasa in the Gift-o-Matic.

Step Two: Hear Her Out

The game offers a brief tutorial on how these Persuasion Missions work, but the goal here is totalk to Tsubasaandrespond empatheticallyto what she’s saying as she recounts her school experience andtime with her grandpa. You’ll need to know how to read the character you’re talking to for persuasion missions, so in general, you’ll want tochoose gentle repliesfor Tsubasa - don’t press her too hard, and don’t pick on her.

“I start puking like a fountain in a fancy park!”

“You don’t need to worry about a little puke.”

“It’s not like you want to fight all covered in puke.”

“Just use that sick bag!”

“It was hard each time I lost a friend, and it made me sad. I’d cry in secret and puke some more.”

“We wouldn’t make fun of you.”

“No! I’m too scared! I can’t do it!”

“I’ll puke, too!”

“No matter how much I messed up, he’d never kick me out.”

“Your grandpa’s really nice.”

“I want to protect the place that’s protected me all my life.”

“You know, his workshop might get destroyed.”

After you deliver a very brave finishing line and the persuasion gauge has hit 100 percent, Tsubasa will agree to fight with you but ask for some time to herself for the moment. The next time you head out into battle, count on having an additional teammate show up during the fight, now that she’s got a way to handle her sickness.
