Quick Links
There’s plenty of work to do inMudborneonce you’ve gained access to the Central Juntion and can begin branching off into the other maps around the pond, but something to look out for as you progress through one of these maps is stone treasure chests in odd locations you’re exploring.
By draining buildings in the Residential District and searching high and low across the other districts of the pond, you’ll find several shipments of Ribbidium, a green metal you can offer to Kroaka. He’ll begin stocking some powerful machinery in exchange for every piece of Ribbidium you can find.

What Is Ribbidium?
Have you been chatting with the frogs that remain in each of the maps around the pond in Mudborne? You’ll chat with these friendly frogs throughout the course of the main story in Mudborne to receive new objectives andprogress through the Compendium, but be sure to chat with them again, since they’ll often haveside missions for extra trading options, plenty of which can help you control your environment to obtain all kinds of new resources.
Once you’ve gotten to theResidential District, you’ll be talking toKroakathe engineer plenty of times to grab the machinery you’ll need to progress through the flooded buildings nearby. As you use your Drainer to siphon water fromflooded areas, be on the lookout for stone treasure chests once the water is gone - you’ll find all sorts of important things in them, not least of which will be a fewindividual shipments of Ribbidium.

These green bars of metal can begiven to Kroaka, and much like Hopert with the six blueprints, each one unlocks anew machine available for tradein Kroaka’s shop when you speak to him next. There are several pieces scattered around the pond, andeach piece of Ribbidium unlocks a specific piece of machinery. You’ll see the pieces numbered in your inventory, and since they’re individual items, they don’t stack, so be sure to save some room for them or trade them in as you find them.
In exchange for your help finding the Ribbidium, Kroaka will providemachines that can more precisely control the climatein a small area, which are pivotal if you’re still trying to grow new kinds or mushrooms or if you’ve moved into the careful process ofhybridizing your spores. He’ll ask for some late-game bugs in exchange for the machines, for the most part, so be sure to stay on top of critter-catching as you meander around the pond.
All Ribbidium Shipment Locations
In the table below, you’ll find information on where to find all pieces of Ribbidium in Mudborne, including information on how to reach the chest that contains the shipment and what Kroaka will offer once you’ve returned the Ribbidium to him.
Unlocks
Engineer’s House, Residential District
After you’vedrained the pumphouseas part of the main Compendium storyline, you’ll have access to much more of the map of the Residential District, able to explore the bottom left area of the map more freely now. As you venture, pop into the Engineer’s House just to the left of the Western Reflection Pool and open the chest inside.
Central Engineering, Residential District
Draining the building for Central Engineering is essential to accessing the eastern parts of the Residential District, so be sure to look for the treasure chest on the floor you’re draining before moving on and exploring more of the map. We unlocked this in the Homeward Bound map of the dream world.
Drainage Area Number 2, Residential District
Using frogs with high Ribbit stats, you’ll be moving through the Residential District and the Homeward Bound map to get to the X marks on the map. These are the drainage machines for the central pools that Kroaka is asking you to drain to reach the seal for the area. On the map of the area, you’ll see a treasure chesty in the southernmost drainage area. Enter through the rightmost drainage area and go through the door here, which puts you into the otherwise inaccessible drainage pool with the chest containing this Ribbidium shipment.
The Rain Precipitator:Start or stop rainy conditions in a small area.
Residential Shipping. Climate Control
It was odd to see a Ribbidium shipment in Mudborne outside the Residential District, but as you begin using the Captain’s Key tosail the shipping boats between maps in the game, you’ll need to use the boat in Climate Control to reach the final sensor back in the Residential District. Before you go, though, go inside the Residential Shipping building on the Climate Control map and open the chest for the Ribbidium here.
The Snow Precipitator:Start or stop snowy conditions in a small area.
While none of these tools are necessary for story progression, giving you more precise control over automation and the weather are incredibly powerful late-game abilities you’re sure to appreciate for help logging those final mushrooms.
