If you are looking to earn the best ending inThe First Berserker: Khazan, there are a few things you’ll need to do. This includes a couple of dialogue choices, completing missions, and, more pressingly, assembling the missing pieces of Ozma’s Diary.
In this guide, I’ll outline all the requirements, and give you everything you need to obtain the best ending. Naturally, most of this guide is about tracking down those diary pages, but we’ll cover the other requirements as well.
While this guide should give you everything you need to locate all 15 fragments of Ozma’s diary, if you click on the name of the document, you’ll be taken to the walkthrough associated with the mission these diary pages are found in - just in case you want a little more context.
How Many Endings Are There In The First Berserker: Khazan?
There are three endings in total. What ending you receive will be dictated by the choice you select when speaking to Daphrona before the Ozma fight. That being said, certain choices will only be available if you have completed certain conditions.
The Location Of Ozma’s Diary Fragments
There are a grand total of fifteen pages of Ozma’s diary that you will need to collect in order to get the best ending. There are four The Day the Black Moon Rose pages, four Hismar Conquest pages, four Prophecy pages, and three Reese pages.
Closest Blade Nexus
Old Town
Inbetween the Old Town and Main StreetBlade Nexuses. This document is found after a locked gate, in front of the statue, surrounded by Chaos Clusters, with the Beast of Rampage patrolling around it. From the Old Town Blade Nexus, if you have the ladder shortcut unlocked, you may just climb that ladder and head down the main path. Shortly after you walk through the gate, you’ll be in the right area -the page will be on your right,in front of the statue.
Due to a bug in my game, I never received The Day the Black Moon Rose 1. Instead, I receivedtwo copiesof The Day the Black Moon Rose 4. However, it still showed up in my inventory as The Day the Black Moon Rose 1. I know that is confusing, but even if you receive duplicates, you’ll have the correct documents in your inventory.
Sector No. 4 Laboratory Wing
This document can be found in the circular alcove of bookshelves found in the same room where you fought the Pincer Spider and Failed Creation. The closest Blade Nexus is theSector No. 4 Laboratory Wing. you’re able to’t progress through this stage without crossing through this room.
Passage To Darion Castle
There is a fake wallin the room where you fought the Elite Spellsword. It is to the right of the entrance to the boss arena. Move through the fake wall, and you’ll find this document.
You’ll find this document at the top of the ladder that follows one of the falling puzzle routes. The closest Blade Nexus is theSector No. 4 Laboratory Wing. However, if you didn’t kick down the ladder, you are going to need to trek through quite a bit of level. You’ll know you are in the right spot when you are on the rickety bridge that crosses the center of a tower.From the plank bridge, travel to the back wall.Whilefacingthe wall, drop onto the platform on your right.
Now, turn around. Withyour back facing the wall,we’re going to drop to the platform on your right. Follow this path down to the doorway below. This is the optional route and will take you to a treasure chest. Once you’ve claimed it, climb the ladder, and you’ll see this diary fragment sitting in front of you.
Veiled Path
You’ll find this diary fragmentbeside the stairs that lead up to the Servant of Chaos. If all the shortcuts are open,the closest Blade Nexus is the Veiled Path. This is right at the end of the stage. If you hit the boss gate, then you’ve run straight past it.
Grand Central Theater
Teleport to theGrand Central Theater Blade Nexus. From the Blade Nexus, travel along the left path, along the second-floor balcony. At the end of the path, you’ll find this page of Ozma’s diary lying in front of a statue, near the broken section of the banister.
Ruins Bridge
From theRuins Bridge Blade Nexus, travel up the nearby elevator. Once at the top, head around to the areabehindthe elevator shaft. The Hismar Conquest 3 document should be lying there.
You’ll find the final Hismar document behind the waterfall in the massive cavern section of the stage. This is very close to theRuins Bridge Blade Nexus. The waterfall in question is left of the entrance.
Massive Gate Blade Nexus
This document showed up as Prophecy 3 for me, however, I received multple Prophecy 3s, and my understanding is that this document is Prophecy 1 formostpeople.
The third section of the prophecy is found in the same area where you can find the third Soulstone in the Corruptor’s Fortress mission. If you have the shortcut open already, you simply need tohead to the Massive Gate Blade Nexus.While facing the gate, head through the open gate on your right, up the ladder, up the stairs, past a Pell Los Arcane Knight (you can run past them), up another set of stairs, and you’ll reach the area with the cowering citizens, Head up the set of stairs next to them, take a right, and you’ll be in a room with a Beast of Rampage. Inthatroom you’ll find the page of the prophecy.
Otherwise, you’ll need to head to the Vaisar Watchtower, work your way across the bridge, through the Pell Los Fighters, Pell Los Mage, Corruptors, and the Beast of Rampage, head around to where you’ll fight a Pell Los Trooper, then head down a ladder,cross another bridge with multiple Pell Los Swordsmen and a Pell Los Mage, fight the head Elite Pell Los Guardian Knight(who is a total pain in the butt), and then, in the area after you fight the Elite Guardian Knight, take a left up a set of stairs. At the top of the stairs, take a right, and you’ll fight a Beast of Rampage. Once you kill it, you’ll find the Prophecy 1 document in the corner of the room, next to all stall.
Bloodstained Fountain
Head to the Bloodstained Fountain and push forward. This is a pretty linear stage, so it is essentially a straight shot (though there are side areas littered with treasure.You’ll need tofight an Elite Soulbound Knight,then,an Elite Revenant Devourer,and, finally,an Elite Failed Creation.This document can be found on theleft side of the bridgejust beforeyou confront the Elite Failed Creation. It is sitting in front of a pile of mutilated bodies.
Some people have reported finding the Crimson Trace document in Skalpel’s study, which you’ll be able to enter at the very end of the stage, after having defeated the Corrupted Creation and Mutated Rosha. Skalpel’s Study is next to Lantimos. So, if you didn’t find the Prophecy in that mess of bodies, search this office.
Annex of the Grand Central Theater.Head across the bridge patrolled by a Pell Los Guardian Knight, and two archers, through the room with two Pell Los Fighters, down the hallway guarded by the three Swordsmen, then into the room with the stairs leading downward where you’ll fight one Swordsman and one Fighter. However, before you go down the stairs,scope out the Pell Los Arcane Knight. I don’t know why, but this guy seems irregularly strong. I’d justwait for him to head up the stairs, and sneak past him.
At the bottom of the stairs, take a left.Once you take out the Pell Los Fighter and Swordsmen ghosts,attack the wall with the painting on it.This is an illusory wall. There is a Pell Los Fighter and two Pell Los Archers in this hidden area. Once you defeat them, search the end of the hallway: you’ll find the Prophecy 3 document.
The next Prophecy is nearby, so read the next section if you haven’t gotten it yet.
Carrying on from where you found theprevious document in the Centurial Order stage, head down the stairs. There will be an archer at the end of the hall, and a Pell Los Guardian Knight hiding in the nook to your left. Once you vanquish these foes,head to the spot where the Guardian Knight was hiding. Take a left, and you’ll find this diary fragment.
Head to theOld Town Blade Nexus.From there, follow the main path. This will take you down a set of steps, past multiple soldiers, and past a ballista. You’ll now be at home with a Pell Los Lancer and a Pell Los Mage inside. Once you clear them out, you’ll find this page of Ozma’s Diary in the back corner of the room where the Pell Los Mage was located.
Chapel
The one is hard to miss. Head to theChapel Blade Nexus,thenbacktrack into the nearby mausoleum.This document will be resting in front of the massive statue.
Main Entrance Of The Temple
From theMain Entrance Of The Temple Blade Nexus, head into the temple, go right, head up the stairs, down the hall, onto the balcony, then slide down the ladder, head straight for the nearby lift, take the ladder down instead of using the lift, and you’ll be on a rooftop with a Beast of Madness and a few Observers.
Work your way to the other end of the neighboring roof,take out a Yoma Pursuer and another Beast of Madness.Now,hop down to the rooftop below.You’ll be able to get on top of the rafters here. In the center of the rafters is the Reese 3 document.
Help! The Document Isn’t Where You Said It Would Be!
So, while these documents are typically found in the same places, there have been a few odd occurrences of them seemingly switching locations. Other oddities have occurred as well. If you look at the pictures I’ve provided forThe Day the Black Moon Rose 1andThe Day the Black Moon Rose 4, you’ll notice something odd: they both identify the document as being “The Day the Black Moon Rose 4”. I ran into the same issue withProphecy 3. However, despite this, when I checked my inventory, I didnothave any duplicates.
There are also reports of some of these documents appearing in alternate locations. As an example, one of my colleagues found the Prophecy 4 document in Skalpel’s study in the Crimson Trace mission, whileI found it on the left side of the bridge just before you fight the Corrupted Creation.It was also Prophecy 2, not Prophecy 4 for me. However, as I already mentioned, I received a duplicate of Prophecy 3, so I assume that is why some of them were swapped around. Confusing!
So, while it is very confusing, this bug doesn’t actually prevent you from obtaining all the fragments of Ozma’s diary. If you are missing a specific document,check the location of all the other documents of the same type: odds are you had the same switcheroo occur. And if you didn’t findanyof Ozma’s Diary Fragments in the area identified by this guide, you’ll need to search the nearby parts of the mission in question to see if it was randomly positioned elsewhere.
