Much like the original, one of the joys ofOblivion Remasteredis the open world, which allows you to seek out specific powerful weapons early on, if you know where to find them. However, Oblivion Remastered features two types of weapons: leveled and non-leveled.

Essentially, leveled weapons will match your current level when you acquire them, while non-leveled weapons can be picked up whenever without fear of missing out on a better version. We’ll be avoiding leveled weapons where possible, making exceptions for weapons that don’t improve much at higher levels, like theDebaser.

Oblivion Remastered Early Game Weapons Akaviri Katana

7Akaviri Katana– One-Handed – Blade

One of the first early-game weapons you can get your hands on is theAkaviri Katana, which will be obtainable shortly after the Siege of Kvatch. Follow Martin and Jauffre to Cloud Ruler Temple, and after the cutscenes here, you can undergo your initiation into the Blades.

When yourinitiation completes, Jauffre will hand over anAkaviri Katana, which is a solid starting sword if you’re specializing in Blade. You can also use Renault’s version of this weapon while escorting Uriel Septim in the tutorial, so if you liked that weapon, then this is perfect for you.

Oblivion Remastered Early Game Weapons Akaviri Dai-Katana

You can also steal moreAkaviri Katanafrom the Cloud Ruler Temple East Wing if you lose or sell yours.

6Akaviri Dai-Katana– Two-Handed – Blade

If you prefer two-handed weapons instead, then you’re able to opt for anAkaviri Dai-Katana. However, you’ll need tostealthis weapon from theCloud Ruler Temple Armoryto get one, so don’t start your pilgrimage to the nine wayshrines until after you grab this weapon.

This variant offers more damage than the one-handed version at the cost of slower swing speed – the typical tradeoff you’ll need to consider when opting for two-handed weapons. This weapon also prevents the use of ashield, limiting defensive options, so it requires a more cautious playstyle.

This weapon drains both Willpower and Endurance by 30 points over 20 seconds, making it great for debuffing opponents and preventing their attacks. This weapon will indirectly reduce incoming damage if you hit enemies multiple times, as they’ll lose fatigue, and Magicka regeneration will slow down.
