Oblivion Remasteredis full of odd quests to discover, especially once you set foot inthe Shivering Isles, Sheogorath’s realm. You’ll notice immediately that this new map area changes the rules a bit, as the people and place itself are quirky, unusual, and hold many secrets.

One of these secrets is the Paranoid Roof Watcher quest, which isn’t officially marked or tracked in your quest journal, but features a small self-contained story told through the environment. This hidden side quest is an excellent example of how Bethesda tends to leave things scattered in the world for you to discover and learn about, just like theghosts on the Hill of Suicides.

Oblivion Remastered The Paranoid Roof Watcher Start 1

How To Start The Paranoid Roof Watcher

Once you enter the Shivering Isles and reach New Sheoth, you’ll find two sides of this city to visit: Bliss and Crucible.

Go to Crucible, where your mission is toget on top of the roofsin the area and find this unmarked quest.

Even when you reach the correct spot, you will not receive a journal update informing you of this quest’s progress.

Getting On The Rooftops

This can be a simple task if you still have theBoots of Springheel Jakon you to fortify yourAcrobatics by 50 points.

To keep the Boots of Springheel Jak and prevent them from being destroyed during The Ultimate Heist, you must either use a paralyze poison on yourself (which negates fall damage if timed correctly) or have high enough Acrobatics to survive the fall without the boots.

You can also use Fortify Health potions to increase your HP enough to live through the fall damage.

Even without the Boots Of Springheel Jak,you may still reach the rooftops with some careful climbing. If you’re anywhere near 100 Acrobatics (or above with boosts applied) you’ll be fine.

To help ensure you’re getting the highest jump possible, use one of these methods in a pinch to help:

Once you’ve prepared and optimized your Acrobatics,go to the spot where you might’ve pushed Hirrus Clutumnus to his demiseduring the Final Resting quest,as this gives you the most height of any ledge in the city.

If you haven’t been there yet, go to thenortheastern corner of Crucibleand stop before entering New Sheoth Palace. That’s the spot you need to use.

From there, jump onto the nearest curved rooftop, and save your game so you don’t have to parkour again if you fall.

Jump through town toward Cutter’s Weapons, and you’ll notice something strange on the nearby rooftop. When you approach, you’ll find an odd assortment of things:

The notetells the story of a paranoid and unhinged citizen who sits up on the roof staring down over the town, and mentions thelocation of the Sunken Urn that the key unlocks.

Check the other rooftops for more scattered belongings, including aRing of Lighton the southernmost building, next to someFur Gauntlets and bones.

Once you’ve looted all the items on the rooftops, head to theback of Sickly Bernice’s Taphouse to the large pool of sewage at the top, near a high ledge.

What Rewards Do You Get From The Paranoid Roof Watcher?

Before the ledge, in the pool of sewage, you’ll find the reward: The Sunken Urn, which contains an assortment of goodies, includingGold(according to your level),wine, aJeweled Amulet,Sweetcakes, and other knick-knacks.
