Every year on April 26,Honkai: Star Railcelebrates its anniversary, which gives players a ton of extra rewards including a bunch of pulls and usually a free five-star character. The second anniversary during the Version 3.2 is no different, but you can choose the five-star you want to get this time.
Between the Version 3.2 and Version 3.4 update, you can get a special ticket that you can use to get either Luocha or Ruan Mei among other characters. If you’re looking for the best character to choose between them, here’s everything you should know.
What Is The Golden Companion Spirit?
The Golden Companion Spirit is a new currencyintroduced permanently in the Version 3.2 update of Honkai: Star Rail. When you get an eidolon of a five-star character that’s already on maximum eidolons, you’ll get one Silver Companion Spirit.Two of these Silver Companion Spirits can be exchanged for one Golden Companion Spirit.
After getting a Golden Companion Spirit, you can exchange it for one of the five-stars in the special shop, whichwill include Ruan Meiand Luocha when the feature releases. As an anniversary reward,every player can get one Golden Companion Spirit by logging in during Version 3.2 and 3.4.
If you buy a certain amount of Oneiric Shards with real money during the Version 3.2 update,you can get another Golden Companion Spirit.
Should You Pick Ruan Mei Or Luocha?
While you may choose one of the standard banner characters with the Golden Companion Spirit, most players would benefit from choosingeither Ruan Mei or Luocha since both of them are quite strong. However, Ruan Mei is a much more valuable character than Luocha.If you don’t have either of these characters, Ruan Mei is easily the better choice.
However, if you have Ruan Mei but not Luocha, you’d want to get him instead,especially if you don’t have two dedicated sustainers for two different teams.Luocha is also great with characterslike Mydei and Castorice, who rely on your team getting constantly healed since he can heal them as they attack enemies.
It’s also important to mention that Ruan Mei is specifically great with Break-based teams. Soif you have Firefly, Boothill, or Rappa, you can easily go for her.
Ruan Mei Eidolons Vs Luocha Eidolons
If you’ve been playing Honkai: Star Rail for a long time, there’s a high chance that you might already haveboth Ruan Mei and Luocha since they were both meta units on their release. In this case, you’ll be looking to get an eidolon for one of these characters with the Golden Companion Spirit.

The eidolon you should go for depends on multiple things. The first factor ishow much you’re using both characters on your account. For example, if you’re using a Firefly team with Ruan Mei to beat every endgame mode, you should go for her eidolon without a second thought.
On the other hand,if Luocha is one of your dedicated sustainers, it’s a good idea to go for his eidolon instead. Apart from this factor, here’s the general priority for getting these characters' eidolons, with the first one being the highest priority:

Should You Save Your Golden Companion Spirit?
you may acquire the free Golden Companion Spirit any timebetween the Version 3.2 and 3.4 updates by heading over to the event page. However, once you acquire it, you’ll notice that it’s not time-limited and acts like a normal Golden Companion Spirit that you can acquire by getting max Eidolon five-star copies.
If you don’t think any of the current characters available in the Stellar Convergence shop are required for your account, you cansave your Golden Companion Spirit since the characters within this shop will rotate periodically. However, the characters getting added to it will likely always be older units.
