Summary
Doom: The Dark Agesis a prequel in the ever-expanding Doom series, expanding on the world-building and lore surrounding the infamous Doom Slayer. One of the most noticeable changes in The Dark Ages is the greater emphasis on cinematic cutscenes in between missions.
The cutscenes really help mold Doom: The Dark Ages into a more story-driven FPS campaign to the tune of Gears of War and Call of Duty, allowing the main characters and their voice actors to take the spotlight and truly shine in the storytelling. Most actors are those you’ve seen before in past Doom games, with some even reprising their characters here, yet there are still a few surprise names.

8Hell Priest
Voiced By Fred Tatasciore
Hell Priests are important figures in Doom’s lore that played a prominent role in Doom Eternal, and one of the main advisors to Prince Ahzrak in The Dark Ages is the Hell Priest named Belias. And the voice of the Hell Priest in The Dark Ages is delivered by none other than seasoned voice actor Fred Tatasciore.
Tatasciore is Adam Wilkins in Prime Video’s Invincible, Brutus in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Hades in Netflix’s Blood of Zeus, and various characters inLove, Death & Robots. But he’s ultimately most famous for his roles across various Marvel and DC projects, including Hulk in Midnight Suns and Marvel Rivals and Rhino in Marvel’s Spider-Man, as well as Bane in the Batman: Arkham series.

7Kreed Maykr
Voiced By Darin De Paul
There’s a new Maykr in town in this Doom prequel, and his design is like a cross between Dune’s Baron Vladimir Harkonnen and Monsters, Inc.’s Henry J. Waternoose III. Another iconic video game character Darin De Paul voices is J. Jonah Jameson in Insomniac’s Spider-Man series, and he’s also Ghost Rider in Marvel’s Midnight Suns. One of your allies in Doom: The Dark Ages is Commander Valen, a character who actually appeared in Doom Eternal as the Betrayer, and you get to see more of his backstory and involvement in the prequel story. Valen is reprised by his original actor, Kyle Chapple.
Valen is probably Kyle Chapple’s most recognizable role to date. But aside from the Doom series, Chapple is also Deadman in Call of Duty: Mobile, Kurth in Delta Force - Black Hawk Down, and Murray the Mummy inthe children’s horror gameHotel Transylvania: Scary-Tale Adventures. He also has minor voice credits in The Addams Family 2, FX’s Archer, and Diablo 4.

4The Witch
Voiced By Gina Gershon
Accompanying the Hell Priest and Prince Ahzrak in Doom: The Dark Ages to round out the villain squad is an enigmatic witch, who becomes an eventual boss alongside Ahzrak. The Witch is surprisingly voiced by Hollywood icon Gina Gershon in what is her first video game voice acting role, but not her first video game project, as she also plays Moxxi in the 2024 Borderlands movie.
Gershon’s most famous movie roles include Eli Roth’sholiday horror movieThanksgiving, Paul Verhoeven’s Showgirls, The Wachowskis' Bound, William Friedkin’s Killer Joe, and John Woo’s Face/Off. 1Doom Slayer And Slayer Suit
Voiced By Jason E. Kelley And Robbie Daymond
The coolest part about the Slayer, even though he already comes equipped with an epic array of weapons and a Shield Saw, is that he’s voiced by Jason E. Kelley, who previously voiced Colt Vahn in Deathloop and reprises the role from Eternal’s The Ancient Gods DLC. And the voice of your Slayer Suit is none other than Spider-Man voice actor and Hi-Fi Rush’s protagonist, Chai, Robbie Daymond.
Kelley also voices Bohai in Horizon Forbidden West, Karison Endler in Starfield, and Atlantic City’s Mayor Tim in Fallout 76. In live-action, you may see him as Tim Weaver in Mayor of Kingstown.
