Phil Spencer Suggests That There Are Still Unannounced Xbox Games Releasing Later This Year

In a new interview withVariety, in which Spencer discussed his hopes and expectations forA Minecraft Movie, the games industry veteran was questioned about the remainder of 2025 for Xbox.

“For us and the rest of this calendar year, I really feel great about the slate of games,” Spencer said. “We just had ‘Avowed’ come out, and I have to go backwards and just say Obsidian continues to do a great job. We’ve obviously talked about ‘The Outer Worlds 2,’ ‘South of Midnight,’ ‘Doom.’ There’s more stuff, some stuff that’s unannounced, and I’m walking in my head to make sure I don’t leak anything.”

There’s more stuff, some stuff that’s unannounced, and I’m walking in my head to make sure I don’t leak anything.

While Spencer is too well media-trained to let things slip, there’s plenty we can speculate on.

As part of2023’s massive Xbox leaks, Microsoft’s Bethesda release schedule was revealed, and there are plenty of games that have still yet to see the light of day. Project Kestrel and Project Platinum were two mysterious titles slated for release in 2023/2024, and a “licensed IP game”, a Ghostwire Tokyo Sequel, and Dishonored 3 were scheduled to release at some point before April 2025. It’s totally plausible that Microsoft will reveal some or all of these during its summer showcase scheduled for June. Of course, a Fallout 3 remake also leaked during the 2023 leak, butthat still seems like it’s some time away.

There’s also every possibility that we get a new Forza Horizon game at some point in the near future. The almost-four years betweenForza Horizon 5and now is the longest the series has gone without receiving a new title.

Rumors have also swirled thatSpyro 4 is in development, with a partnership between Toys for Bob and Microsoft making it happen, and thatMinecraft Dungeons 2 has been in the works for two years.

Whatever happens, it’s an exciting year to be an Xbox fan.
