There are dozens of quests to find inTainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon. With so many people in need of help, it’s difficult to get to them all, but it can be done. When you first meet the Keepers after escaping the Island Asylum, you’ll have to prove yourself if you want to have any hope of learning the truth about King Arthur and finding the pieces of his soul.
One of the first quests you’ll get is to help Fearghas and the Keepers with their local undead problem. However, not all is as it seems. Here’s how to find the source and how to deal with it!
Where To Find Margh
Once you agree tohelp Fearghas with the local undead problem, he’ll send you to find Margh. Leave the keep andhead northwest to reach the Forgotten Cemetery. You’ll have to pass a few bandits and outlaws to get there.
You’llfind Margh crouched by a campfirein some ruins. Talk with him tolearn more about the situationand the danger that the undead pose to the Keepers and the citizens of the south. When you’re ready, you canenter the Forgotten Cemetery.
Inside the cemetery, skeletons and corpse eatersawait you. Slay them quickly andloot their bodiesfor any materials before entering the crypt itself. Once inside, you canspeak with Huardoc. He’sa friendly undeadcharacter who keeps watch for the necromancer that visits.
His loyalties are to the cemetery itself, not to any specific master.
You canconvince him to give you a keyso you can enter the crypt, or you canpay him five gold piecesto cover upkeep costs. Either way, you’ll gain access to the crypt. Head down the stairs and open the gate to begin.
Inside, you’ll haveplenty of skeletons and corpse eatersto fend off. They’re scattered through the ruins. Beware the stone statues as you get deeper into the crypt. One willcome alive and attackyou, and its a powerful foe.
Being made of stone, they’re tough and hit hard. Make sure you have potions and keep your distance!
Beyond them, you’llreach the innermost chamberwhere the necromancer Yorath awaits you. Before you can attack, he’llstrike up a conversationwith you. He’s not trying to raise an undead army, like the Keepers suspected, butinstead conducting researchas to how to make the dead useful for the living.
You have a choice to make here. Should youkill the necromancer or let him go?
Should You Kill Yorath?
It’s possible totalk Yorath down, but your odds are slim. You’ll most likely end up in a fight unless you prepare ahead of time, but you’re able to get a spell from the necromancer if you let him live.
You’ll get to lie to Fearghas about killing Yorath, or you can tell him the truth. One way or another, the undead problem is dealt with.
You can alsokill him after persuading himto stop, getting in a sneak attack before he realizes what’s happening.
How To Defeat Yorath
When you fight Yorath, he’s a powerful mage. He’llraise undead around youto help defend himself. If you may back him into a corner, you canstrike him down quicklyand the skeletons will fall apart.
Usethrowing knives and arrowsto keep your distance if you don’t have a lot of health, oruse a shield to defend yourself. If things get difficult, you canretreat through the cryptto drag out the fight and gain the upper hand.
Once Yorath is dead, you canloot his body for a set of necromancer armorand other goodies likea Skull Staff and several spells. Be sure tosearch his study areaas well to grab materials you may need for alchemy.
Where To Put Yorath’s Remains
You canreturn to Fearghas with the good news, but before you go,speak with Huardocto tell him about his master’s fate. He felt the death of the necromancer and now has to clean up the crypt before falling back into a long slumber. Before he does, though, heasks if you’re able to bury his master’s remainsin the special crypt prepared for him.
Head back into the deepest chamber tocollect Yorath’s ashes, then venturebeyond the locked doorHuardoc gives you the key to. Inside are thememorial sites of all the previous necromancerswho ventured to this crypt before.
Feel free toloot the caskets. You can find plenty of alchemical ingredients and useful items here.
Make your way to the empty casket andput Yorath’s ashes in the bowl.you’re able to leave an inscription on the stone at the foot of the altar, or you can leave it blank. Thisconcludes the request for Huardoc, who has already gone back to sleep.
Leave afterwards andconclude the quest by reporting to the Keeper Quartermaster. You can now progress with theShadow of the Horns quest, which is the next quest in the main story.
